This second photo is what my foot looks like. The wrap is so my ankle doesn't swell up to the size of a grapefruit. You'll notice it hasn't helped the exposed part of the foot. I think the wrap is just squishing the swelling into the other part of my foot and leg. The odd coloring ... yep that's bruise. (not the toenails that's my weird polish.
Now, you will be saying "Ick, why did you share this?" Well, it is a proven fact that if I injure myself on a project the project turns out well. So YAY, I totalled my ankle with the metal cart I was using to haul the wood out!
Really I could put more together but I'm not too sure where the rest of my angle brackets are and I know I'm short on screws AND the vodka and ibuprofen are kicking in so I'm now as stupid as my foot.

Yowtch! Hope the pain has well reduced...Heal thyself, that bar can't get built until you're hale again.

I'm quite excited to see how this project comes along!

Ok ok ... I know what your saying, "Is that all?!"
So the overtime is beginning to kill me. My foot is a delightful mix of blue and purple (evidently I broke a toe in the process of bashing my ankle .. I'm talent).
And I spent last night outside in our tiki bar drinking until about 3.
So I didn't get started on any of the bar until around 5:30.
I wouldn't have stopped so early but all three of my blasted batteries are dead on my Mikita and my dad stole my black and decker. I'm certain he's getting back at me for all the years I've stolen his tools.
Anyway, this is the front frame. Each section is 2 feet wide and 4 feet high.

Re:Bar 2 Years ago Karma: 10
Update: Ok so I caused an ankle contusion and have micro fractures inside of my ankle. Good news.
Basically that means the inside of my bone is jelly but it will heal up fine and I didn't break anything my toes are just naturally stupid.

I got the two support pieces for the top and shelf but I rethought my cheapass design for the side section and decided I really do need another 2X4. So I have to go dig one up.
I did find this condiment tray. Which if I'm really nice I'll punk up and attach it to the bar.

Good News!
Found a 2x4 and got it cut to the correct size.
Bad News!
Our newly hired worker completed 4 days before he decided to quit. I'm back to forced overtime. It was so nice ... I almost had a full week of real life.
Good News!
Fiscal cap on extra expenditures is June 26th so that's my last week of overtime!
Bad News!
That means only 3 days of real life time where I can work on the bar before other things kick in. Usually I only do a haunters(animatronic stuff) convention in the summer but this year I have the convention, trip to Russia, and a house sitting job so I have about 11 days I'm not busy in July and 13 in August. Sorry about the delay.
If I can get the frame pieces all built and find some paint is anyone willing to take them off my hands and paint them? I would then need them back to put the facing on. You will need a truck to transport. It will be a while before this needs to happen but it would make it go faster.

Not that any of you give a flying crud …
My father is a gruff man. He used to scare my potential dates away by walking up the street in a giant bear coat and grunting. He isn’t mean he’s just … gruff. He does not get LARP. He does get annoyed that I steal his tools. He has begun to steal mine. So I was a little shocked last night when they “popped” over with the (seemingly) only reason of giving me something.
My father grumbles and says, “You have that bar finished yet?” I whined my “no” explaining my time constraints. (My father has his winter project for 2057 finished already so you can see how well this would sit with him.)
He says, “Its for one of your freak groups, right?” I roll my eyes with a “yes”.
He reaches in his pocket and throws something at me, “Here. It’s from your uncles stash.” He tells my mom it’s time to go and quickly exits.
The Rushing Boar bar is now the proud owner of a gargoyle head mounted beer opener. (you can look for pictures on the web, they aren't expensive I just never would have gotten one and I'm a fan of free)
I love my father … he’s a goob at heart.

Sure, I can find it for you. But it's going to cost you. Cash, trade, or a favor for me--just don't cross me. People who cross me have nasty accidents.

Ok Ok excuses excuses
This is my excuse post.
I've pretty much gotten over my Russian Death Disease with the exception of coughing up my lungs when I move too much or too fast. So I decided to hit the drill and work on the bar again.
I am using 2X4s because that is what I had laying around. I know I should have used something smaller but with the height Mario requested I think 2X4s might have been a good idea.
They are not top grade and there is a curve in them which makes it unable to right.
I think it will do for government work.
I have not sunk the screw because I am lazy.
Heck you're gettin' this for free so I can be lazy.
Anyway, this afternoon I coughed louder than my CDs (lounge lizard music the only appropriate bar creating music there is), chased the dog who I let escape, and pounded the crap out of my middle finger.
I have decided that's enough for one day.
Aside from the juvenile delight of showing my sister my wound, I produced the counter braces, figured out I need another inch off the gate, and attached all but one of the shelf strong-ties ... I seem to be missing one.
Not much but that includes the puzzle time trying to figure out which numbered piece went where and why those two were short but not short enough AND drinking 3 beers.

riggin' friggin' narggin' plarrrrgggghhhh
No, I didn't just eat a pirate.
I can't find the flipping paint.
Where the heck is the paint?
I know it was here before the Russia trip.
grrrr
Ok so the picture takes a little splainin'
This is the gate.
Yes it's a bit large. My thought is this ... Mario, with a keg, attempting to move, like the ballerina he is, through the gate.
The bar is for a towel or whatever you want to hang.
The board in front of it is just holding it up cause the wheels are rounded and swively and the gate won't balance on it's own.

Re:Bar 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 10
In looking for the paint I found the missing strong-tie. It is now attached ... badly but attached.
I didn't find the paint I wanted but I did find some other paint.
Yes, I'm painting it.
Worse, I'm spray painting it.
I know that stain looks better and if you're gonna paint you should use latex but I hate painting. I hate painting and staining with a passion.
I have painted 3 different houses twice each. I have painted interiors. I despise painting.
I have stained countless Bucky's and furniture. While I love the look (and the Bucky's do give me a giggle) I really despise staining too.
So you get spray paint.
I've done one side of the barside braces, shelves, and gate a kind of weird mettalic coppery goldish color. I haven't done the front pieces yet. I'm probably going to do them black so they blend in. Dunno.
Hopefully this weekend I can get my father to pull out the front panels.
I need to get the connector holes drilled before I put the panels on but I'm hoping to get that done this weekend too.
Anyway, update whether you wanted it or not.

Hey, spray paint can be a useful thing. Especially when you have to paint a large surface and you *really* don't wan't to be doing it by hand. Plus it's cheap.

Ah but varnish is not easier to apply than spray nor is it more affordable than free. I used the last of my varnish on a devils staircase in July.
